The federal government should not ban guns because we need them to hunt and protect ourselves. People must learn to be able to be near a weapon without worry, but those who use the weapon inappropriately should not have it. The Second Amendment states that people have the right to carry concealed weapons. Judge Richard Posner said it "must be interpreted to include the right to keep a concealed weapon in public, to have it ready for use, and to have it for self-defense." The Second Amendment further states that “a well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.” The Supreme Court set a milestone by ruling upholding the right of people to bear arms for hunting and self-defense. The NRA claims that the law making citizens carry guns can decrease crime rates and make them safer from criminals.
