Topic > The Art of the Horror Film - 1210

Horror films are generally all the same. They are all based on something that has already happened or on a previous film. Society has paid to have fun with these gruesome stories that we all truly fear. Before movies, people bought books with similar dramatic events to read in their free time for entertainment. Writers like Bram Stoker created graphic novels that captured people's attention for years to come. But the horror film, The House Of The Devil (1896), was noted as the first ever horror film. And as the years have passed, the industry has grown and strengthened. The artistic and creative part of the films has become more gruesome and realistic. Now many of the horror films that have been made are said to be based on true events. Knowing that events could be real attracts millions of people and grows the industry. Numerous people spend countless hours perfecting the art of terror for our entertainment. In truth, they are looking at previous plots and methods that were successful before. The art of horror films began long before the creation of television. Gothic writers like Mary Shelly and Bram Stoker created novels that horrified people. And to this day Mary Shelly's Frankenstein and Bram Stoker's Dracula are continually recreated. For example, FW Murnau's Nosferatu was an unauthorized version of Bram Stoker's Dracula. F.W. Murnau made some changes to the film's details to separate it from the original as he was unable to obtain the rights to the original novel. Stoker's heir ended up suing anyway, and the courts ordered that all copies of Nosferatu be destroyed. But only one copy of the film was missing and was later revealed. Dra's story...... middle of paper ......ter sitting there thinking about himself, the protagonist's love interest is not the best person, you can choose the order in which the people they will die, the killer walks while the victim runs but always stays with them, the survivor will clash with the killer in the finale, the black male and the blonde female will die first, the killer will not die no matter when they do, and when someone is washing the dishes suddenly there will be a person behind them in the mirror. These are all stupid cliches that everyone follows. But companies wouldn't bother investing time and money into such a large project if they didn't have some sort of certainty that it would ultimately make a profit. This really limits the creativity of the creators. Trying new ideas comes with many risks so that they cannot expand the horror film industry. It's a shame that all horror movies have to be the same.
