Do you want to die with dignity or in agony? Euthanasia is an action to achieve a painless death of a patient suffering from severe or incurable pain, it is allowed only by the patient's personal intention or with the approval of the guardian. There are two types of euthanasia; passive and active. Active euthanasia shortens life through medications, while passive euthanasia removes the ventilator. The word "eu" originates from the beautiful and happy word, "thanatos" death; beautiful death. However, some people say that euthanasia is murder because it means ending one's life. According to a survey conducted by the Australian Institute, over 70% of respondents responded that euthanasia should be allowed. According to the result, Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg are the only countries where euthanasia is officially legal and they are not active in advocating why euthanasia should be legalized as there is a strong social stigma throughout the world that thinks euthanasia is murder.
