Michele plays Rachel Berry, seemingly arrogant and conceited, but incredibly talented. Seasons one through three highlight Rachel's immense desire to move to New York to become a famous Broadway star and how she will do anything to make that dream come true. At the end of season three, Rachel receives an acceptance letter to her dream school, NYADA, or the New York Academy of Dramatic Arts. Rachel's main storyline in season four is her transition from little Lima, Ohio, to the bright lights of New York, and her struggles along the way. Due to the sudden death of Lea's on- and off-screen boyfriend, Cory Monteith who played Finn Hudson, the show was almost canceled right before the cast began filming the fifth season. When “Glee” creator and writer Ryan Murphy asked her how she wanted to proceed, Lea said she wanted to continue with the show because that's what Cory would have wanted, and work would be a good distraction for her.
