(Erden and Akman 127) Throughout history, coexistence in societies characterized by different cultural and racial structures has been one of the main problems to be overcome in all societies. In this sense, while some states have applied an opposing policy against other people who keep out their ethnic and cultural structures, other states have adopted the idea of ​​supporting differences together. At this point, a new term was introduced in Western states: "multiculturalism". Multiculturalism first emerged in Europe and its short description is the dissolution of ethnic, cultural and linguistic differences, it has become a serious problem in some countries and has been discussed seriously. . Despite their different qualities, in the world, multiculturalism originates from three different formations. These sources are national minorities, immigrants and finally different religious groups. Is multiculturalism a cultural asset or threat? Especially nowadays this question has begun to be asked for nation-states. Some think that multiculturalism is an asset for states if they manage it in the right way. Others think that multiculturalism is a threat and a separatist element especially for nation-states. Western states like Germany and France have failed to control the idea of ​​multiculturalism. Multiculturalism was wealth or necessity for the early years of the Ottoman Empire and the Roman Empire, but it is clear that contemporary nation-states could not fully implement this idea as in Türkiye. Concessions made to minorities have increased and Turkey today faces a serious problem. Unfortunately, the meaning of multiculturalism has been misunderstood on both sides. Nation states should think deeply about the crisis of multiculturalism and should make radical decisions if they want to continue their existence. It should be noted that due to mishandling of multiculturalism, the Ottoman Empire was blown up by its own bomb.
