America has proven that it can help restore a country's governance when times are tough. After their bombs destroy a country, American planes drop food for starving civilians. Indeed, America has shown great leadership, but has not focused on the problems of its own homeland. We live in a country where the cost of living and minimum wage don't help feed a family, a government that spends billions of dollars to help rebuild other countries, even a man and a woman who have the same degree but struggle with pay gender gap. To begin with, author Dinesh D'Souza states in his article "What's So Great About America", "There are American bases in the Middle East and the Far East." The United States spent billions of dollars opening military bases in several countries, but somehow found itself in debt. D'Souza further states, "After razing Japan and Germany during World War II, the United States rebuilt those countries."
