For quite some time, life on earth has been nothing but peaches and cream for many people and, due to people living unsustainable lives, has left others with a dim vision of the earth's future. To me, sustainability means doing things that will help prevent environmentally harmful things from happening now and in the future. With the support of sustainability and more qualitative lifestyles, the Earth Charter is gradually introduced. Through key research I will explain what the Earth Charter is and why it was founded, I will describe one of its four parts along with its goals and overall philosophy, and I will share the impact it has on my life now and in the future. The Earth Charter website states that the Earth Charter “is a uniquely diverse global network of people, organizations and institutions participating in the promotion and implementation of the values ​​and principles of the Earth Charter” (“The Earth Charter Initiative ”, 2009). While browsing the site, I also learned that the Earth Charter is a “declaration of fundamental ethical principles for building a just, sustainable, and peaceful global society in the 21st century.” (“What is the Earth Charter,” 2009) Currently, in Fort Myers and Estero, Florida, there are some local businesses supporting the Earth Charter initiative. Even with the support of over “4,500 organizations, including many governments and international organizations,” there are still issues that concern the Earth Charter group (“What is the Earth Charter,” 2009). One of the central concerns concerns “the transition towards sustainable ways of life and sustainable human development” (“What is the Earth Charter”, 2011).
