Ultrasound, also known as ultrasound, is an imaging technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of structures that bounce off internal parts of the body to create images for medical purposes. This high frequency cannot be heard by the human ear. Over the years, these noninvasive procedures have largely replaced invasive surgery. These procedures cause the patient less trauma and a lower risk of complications that could arise from the alternative procedure. Most ultrasound procedures are performed using a device outside the body, although some ultrasounds are transvaginal. Transvaginal ultrasound is a procedure that involves placing a tubular probe inside the body. In a normal ultrasound procedure, reflections of high-frequency sound waves locate, measure and delineate deep structures. The sound wave sent from a Doppler ultrasound transducer will travel until it hits a tissue boundary, which will be reflected back to the probe. An ultrasound procedure is also less expensive than the surgical procedure. Ultrasound has become an important procedure in the medical field. These procedures allow the specialist to quickly assess the patient's condition and doctors to treat the condition before it gets out of hand. Over the years studies have researched ultrasound and it has become more popular and easier to perform, there are many types of ultrasound such as prenatal ultrasound, therapeutic ultrasound, prostate ultrasound, cardiac ultrasound, breast ultrasound, First, prenatal ultrasound is the most common type of ultrasound. This ultrasound is what most mothers look forward to during pregnancy. These ultrasonic sca...... middle of paper ......h like; gallbladder, liver, pancreas, kidneys and spleen. These ultrasounds may be performed if the patient has abdominal pain, enlarged organs, gallstones, cancer, tumors, and many other conditions. Ultrasound is used in clinical practices around the world for many different reasons. Studies have shown that ultrasound has substantial benefits. The Journal of the Canadian Chiropractic Association states that “studies have consistently reported that ultrasound has beneficial therapeutic effects on pain and functional outcomes.” (Assoc.) Ultrasound has come a long way and has almost replaced surgical procedures since surgeries cause so much trauma. Ultrasounds are painless procedures and are performed to provide images to the specialist to provide images to diagnose abnormalities, help when carrying out procedures and ensure that unborn babies grow normally.
