Topic > Violent Revolution and Civil Disobedience - 752

In the past many people suffered from being mistreated and not having freedom. Civil disobedience is the declared and active refusal to obey certain laws, requests or commands of a government or an occupying international power. Some argue that violent revolution is a more effective means of achieving freedom and equality. Others argue that civil disobedience is a more effective means of achieving freedom and equality. I believe that civil disobedience is a more effective means of achieving freedom and equality because it does not cause war/violence and allows freedom to be obtained in a fair way. There are many reasons why civil disobedience is a more effective means of achieving freedom and equality. One of the reasons why civil disobedience is a more effective means of achieving freedom and equality is that it does not cause war/violence. According to the primary source of document no. 1 there is an excerpt from Nelson Mandela's book "Long Walk to Freedom". Here Nelson Mandela and the South African president discussed the issue of sanctions. Nelson and the president try to solve the problem without any war/violence. The same document stated: "Although we were aware of what Mr De Klerk had done, in our opinion sanctions remained the best lever to force him to do more... I explained to Mr De Klerk that we could not tell our advocates easing sanctions until apartheid was completely dismantled and a transitional government was in place." According to another primary source, in document no. 3 there is a letter that Gandhi wrote before marching to the sea and breaking the English salt tax law. Most historians consider this to be the turning point of the movement towards freedom... in the middle of paper... when you get the same thing both ways but in a positive way. Civil disobedience has been shown to have been cited. be a more effective means of achieving freedom and equality. Although this has been scientifically proven, some still believe the opposite. Some say that violent revolution is a more effective means of achieving freedom and equality. I believe that civil disobedience is a more effective means of achieving freedom and equality, because it does not cause violence/war and allows you to achieve freedom fairly. Civil disobedience does not harm anyone or destroy anything, rather it solves the problem without any force or struggle! What would you rather fight to get something or just convince someone without violence to get it and get that specific thing? Convincing is a better choice when you get the same thing both ways but in a positive way.
