Drug Enforcement AdministrationMatthew SchechterBriarcliffe collegeThe Drug Enforcement Administration has many careers and responsibilities throughout the agency. there are many different careers such as special agent, diversionary investigator, intelligence research specialist, forensic scientist, and student/entry level positions. There is a very big responsibility of the Drug Enforcement Administration and that is to enforce drug laws and protect people from harmful substances. Many harmful substances are spread to people every day, so the DEA must take action against this menace to try to prevent it or catch it before it is too late. Many people try to get into the DEA, but these days it's as difficult as becoming a police officer. There are many pros and cons to working for the Drug Enforcement Administration, some good and some not so good. The DEA is a federal law enforcement agency of the United States under the Department of Justice, which is tasked with matching drug smugglers and drug users in the United States. . A career as a law enforcement administrative agent is supported by an excellent federal benefits package that most would find very attractive. This means you may be able to enroll in a federal employee health benefits program and federal employee group life insurance programs. The DEA is the nation's lead enforcement agency for drugs and other controlled substances, but shares concurrent jurisdiction with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. After a candidate receives an offer from the DEA to become an agent, all new recruits must complete rigorous training that includes practice with a firearm, gun safety, tactical shooting... middle of paper ...fight to prevent it, then the world would collapse. I agree that the DEA is necessary and it is important that it is a highly motivated and well developed task force to prevent drugs and stop all drug trafficking in our country. The Drug Enforcement Administration has been a well thought out organization and a great team between training and preparing for the workforce, they never know what will happen on the job, it is an extremely dangerous job to do, but with training they can do anything to protect people from the war on drugs.ReferencesDea home page.
