Introduction: Assessment is one of the crucial components of education. Traditional exams and tests rely primarily on the materials taught in the course to achieve predetermined objectives. They cannot evaluate whether or not students can apply it. To truly understand some new ideas, students must apply them. My experience as an English teacher provides some insights into framing my discussion of assessment. Although many teachers think that exam and test scores are objective and cannot be wrong, I think these scores are uncertain and need to be supplemented by other assessments. Traditional assessments in their summative and formative forms such as tests, quizzes, or exams are often graded and returned to students. Unfortunately, grades become more important than the learning itself. Most students are interested in the number or letter written at the top of the paper. Although some teachers provide comments and feedback associated with the score, students assume that what ultimately matters is the number or letter grade because that is the only measure. Furthermore, evaluation is a complex but fundamental process that must be based on a well-designed network of practices. A single assessment cannot fully describe and measure what a student has learned or understood. Consequently, combining traditional assessment with some alternative assessments could create a better learning environment and improve the learning-teaching process for both students and teachers by directly involving students in different stages of this process. Indeed, some research addresses the benefits of providing students with an active role in taking responsibility for l......half of the assignment......without grading it, and then handing it back to students to evaluate their work according to a rubric (see appendix 2) and return it to the teacher. This procedure is repeated before and after each training test. At the end of the course, students complete a survey questionnaire to understand the feasibility of self-assessment and describe their experience. Interviews are carried out with some students to clarify some obscure aspects. The teacher's first evaluation is taken into consideration to guide the conclusion of the research. The results of the placement test are compared with the results of the summative test. The data collected from the questionnaire is quantitatively analyzed using SPSS program. While the data collected from the interviews are analyzed qualitatively. All this data is completed by observing students and their changes.
