For example, as teachers we need to take into account the fact that our students may have divorced parents or that our students may have gay parents. That it is becoming a new norm in our society, that it is changing the culture of our students, as they know it. Therefore, as educators we must ensure that we are very open to the constant change in society so that we do not insult any of our students. By comparing cultural changes within the same high school I attended and now teach at, I now have a greater understanding of how positive change is within the education system. For example, when I was in high school, my gay classmates were looked down upon by other students. Now I am happy to say that in our society and in our school students are more willing to open up and express themselves as individuals and not hide. This would never have been possible without our changing society within our changing and welcoming society. Our society in general is changing and becoming increasingly excluded from people with different beliefs and values. Which is great because in the past people weren't open to it
