As time has passed, many fictional men and women have resembled the Prince of Christians in one way or another. But only once or twice has a character followed the life of Jesus so consistently. As I write today, I intend to show from beginning to end how close Jesus and Beowulf are to each other. Perhaps not in the same way, but Beowulf lived, fought, and sacrificed himself for his people, just as Jesus had done for all of humanity, making them two sides of the same coin. From the beginning of the prologue and the beginning of the epic, Beowulf is treated, in a special way, even under the good king Hygelac, just as Jesus was. At an early age, Jesus and Beowulf were raised under a king to perform their orders and be guided. With his father long gone, Beowulf, as I said before, grew up under Hygelac and became his lord. Fight for his glory and pride on and off the battlefield to honor him. Even Jesus was about to profess the status of his father as king. At age 12, Jesus ran to his mother at the temple to begin the long journey of learning and spreading God's will (Luke 2:41-45). While Hygelac adorned Beowulf with gold-studded armor and swords denser than pearl, God's ways of the "giver of rings" and caring for his thane were more majestic and mystical than materials like Hygelac. However, the men were well cared for by their king and drove along their paths in his likeness. From their young adolescence into early adulthood, Jesus and Beowulf were as much for their King as they were for displaying their own power and glory. Much more than Jesus, both were challenged countless times in their determination, will, and fortitude to carry out the will of their respective king. When we soon come across... in the middle of the paper... the sins of people, forever eating away at them from the soul and down to the flesh. This in his eyes was a tragedy worth the price of blood. Without anyone's help and even with the ardor of knowing that his most trusted men would abandon him, Jesus faced everything for his people driven by the immense love that was in his entire being for his people. Both sought salvation for their people, and both, with sacrifice, ensured it. As the story of their lives comes to an end, in the great grandeur of their lives, Jesus of Nazareth and Beowulf of the Geats, both share some of the greatest similarities of their lives together. Although many different paths were trodden by Beowulf's steel-toed boots, his journey paralleled that of Christ. From childhood to death, more often than not, Prince Beowulf and Prince Jesus can be said to be one and the same..
