Helen was part of a wealthy family. She had to deal with a childhood illness, which left her blind and deaf, but she was able to communicate with others with many rudimentary signs. Helen was a mischief maker around the age of seven and caused many tantrums, such as knocking or throwing things around, locking her mother in a room.
