Topic > The Education Crisis in America - 833

The education crisis in America has been overlooked and ignored for too long. Recognizing that young people are the future of our country should be a government priority and initiative. By providing the help students and teachers need to succeed in the classroom, we eliminate all excuses for not being successful outside of the classroom. If the government gave more funding to public and state school systems, implemented reward systems for teachers who excel in their work, and also created more educational options for students; the country would see an increase in interest in high school and pursuing that education. Teachers are some of the most important people in our school system. Most teachers in this country don't make the money they should be paid. The job of a teacher is very demanding and frustrating every day. By implementing reward systems in high schools, the school shows appreciation for teachers. Rewards can be as simple as recognition for something the teacher has done. “Recognize the value of employees by delegating functions based on their level of competence. Employees who are neglected in the distribution of duties often become apathetic towards achieving school goals” (Wali, 193). Offering a teacher or faculty member even just a little free coffee in the morning can make a difference to a teacher and let them know that you care about them as well as the students. It's small actions like these that can make the staff happy and be very cost effective for the school too. When you don't show everyone that they mean the same things as every other teacher, they lose focus on what they are there to do. They forget the goals of the administration and supervisors above them. Take… half paper… but the education system should be the first mover. If you look at our education system compared to the dominant education plans in China, you see that we have great strides to make. The Government must recognize the problems facing our education system and its future. By addressing issues like the lack of funding that public school systems seem to face, many problems can be solved. Giving teachers more rewards for doing the work they choose to take on can help change the attitudes of staff and teachers. Recognizing their importance can help them want to achieve the goals the administration has set before them. Furthermore, adding more options for high school students should increase attention and especially interest in school. By doing all these things the government can really help turn the crisis we face into something to celebrate.
