A study was published in 2010 by Phyllis D. Morgan, Joshua Fogel, Indira D. Tyler, and John R. Jones entitled Culture-Targeted Educational Intervention to Increase Colorectal Health Awareness among African Americans. This study will be reviewed following an objective critique of the research conducted and reported. This analysis will show areas that could be improved and avoided in future studies and reports. This study was conducted to increase colonoscopic screening for colorectal cancer (CRC) in African Americans, as well as to increase knowledge of CRC and reduce cancer fatalism. This study clearly stated the four objectives of the study based on the literature review. The literature review showed several studies with increased knowledge of CRC, decreased cancer fatalism, and increased participation in CRC screening after participation in a culturally specific educational program.
