The Diary of Christopher Columbus is the diary/diary written daily by Christopher Columbus. He began taking notes of his journey starting from the year 1492. This occurred mainly during his journey across the Atlantic Ocean to the Indies, and also in the lands he discovered along the way to his destination. He wrote about his travels every day as a diary of his discoveries for the king and queen. The period he came from was far in the past, during the year 1492. Back when the Moors ruled most of Europe and was just over by the king and queen of Spain. Columbus wrote many journal entries. Some were rather large entries, consisting of a few paragraphs, others might contain only a few sentences about where his travels had taken him that day. Many events in the book take place as Columbus travels over the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean, which Columbus mistook for the Indies. At such times he noted interesting events that occurred during the day, the distance traveled by the crew and, in most cases, the direction in which they traveled during the voyage. Most of the time during the voyages the ship's crew were up and down with their emotions. The crew and Columbus were all on a mission to reach the Indies and find riches. There were many ways in which Columbus and the crew related. Most of the crew hated the time it took and many were scared of the long journey they were making. As Columbus wrote about how the crew became angry at the long voyage, “Here the men lost all patience, and complained of the length of the voyage, but the Admiral encouraged them as best he could, representing the profits they were about to make. obtain acquire, and adding that it was useless to complain, having c...... middle of paper ......would have seen it as a sin and how it would have converted the inhabitants. Columbus saw many things he wished he had never seen, such as cannibalism. The purpose of the author of this journal is simply to inform the King and Queen of Spain of the voyages that he, Columbus, and his crew experience on their voyages. From the voyage in the Atlantic Ocean to Columbus' discovery of what he thought were the Indies. Columbus wrote down many of his experiences in detail every day. From his study of the distance and speed with which they made it to land, to the details of how the native men and women behaved towards them during their adventure. He wrote about studying the land he saw and how he made maps to explore much of it. He wrote in detail many events and incidents. These effectively show what the journey was like and the issues Columbus saw and had to deal with on his journey to America.
