People all over the world have become fond of animals and keep most of them as pets in their families. Animals do not know what is right or wrong and should not be blamed for their actions. Many people abuse animals like dogs and cats just because they are angry or because the animal did something it shouldn't have done. Animal shelters across the United States have abused and killed animals just because there wasn't enough space in the shelter. Shelters in the United States get away with animal abuse and usually get away with a pat on the hand. These acts are abhorrent and it should be illegal to kill animals in shelters just because there isn't "enough room" to put them there. Animal cruelty may play a bigger role than just in animal shelters. The influence of children is one of the main reasons why animal shelters should stop abusing and killing animals. Kids see the abuse and killing of animals in shelters on television and start to think it's right to do so. Even on the news there are reports of cases where shelters have been found abusing their animals and killing them just because there wasn't "enough room" to house more animals in there. Animal shelters influence children in a way because they kill animals to have more space and they say it's acceptable. The children later begin to abuse their animals and in some cases kill their pets. Children believe that what they are doing is reasonable because they have seen on the news or a television show animals being killed or abused in shelters. Animals such as pets have feelings and some may even have human characteristics. Animals are alive and can feel like us, but they can't speak, so why is it acceptable for shelters to mistreat or kill them for virtually no reason... middle of paper... If nonhuman welfare groups and animal shelters came together in the United States, the amount of animal killing and abuse in shelters would decrease dramatically. The more animals we rescue from shelters, the greater the chance that the animal will find a home with a family. In conclusion, rescuing animals from shelters will benefit children and also give animals a chance to find a family to belong to. If animal shelters stopped killing their animals just because there wasn't "enough room", then maybe some of the children who were influenced by animal shelters wouldn't become murderers or violent. People banding together and fighting shelters over their actions may only succeed in stopping the abuse and killing of animals. Animals do not deserve to be treated the way they are treated in most shelters in the United States.
