Topic > University: is it worth it? - 830

We are told to “go to college” by family, the media, and teachers, but we are never given an explanation as to why it is important for us to get a higher education. The importance of higher education is that we can obtain a career that supports our needs and desires. It's also important because it gives you an advantage when trying to find a job. Employers need a higher form of education, which is necessary for the advancement of our society. There aren't many jobs that accept people with a high school diploma as their highest form of education. Employers want people who know what they are doing, and the same is true in our company. In order for people to pursue the career they want, they must go to college to learn everything that career entails. Without a college degree it would be nearly impossible to get a well-paying job. So is it worth going to college even if it's expensive? Well, if we consider everything we gain from college and experience, yes, it is. Most people go to college to earn a degree in whatever field they are most interested in. Going to college gives us a chance at a better life. Not only do we have the opportunity to have a better life, but we can also improve ourselves. We are able to pursue the career that we like and that we want to do. Which is better than doing something we hate for the rest of our lives. College provides us with the knowledge and skills needed for our specific jobs. Which is obviously important, but so are electives because they teach us about other cultures and diversity is important. We can also learn more about the things we are most curious about. We choose work that we find interesting, so learning more about the work we will do is rewarding. The point of going to college is to… middle of paper… live a life with a fancy house and a fancy car. We want to live a happy and successful life. “College is the key…” (Addison 213). In order to achieve success, it is important for us to obtain higher education. Especially in today's economy, competition is fierce. Since there are many people with a bachelor's degree, they now need a master's degree. Of course, people with a Master's degree will be chosen over those with a bachelor's degree. A college education ultimately gives you an advantage when it comes to trying to find a job. The benefits of going to college vary. For example, having a career that you really enjoy is important since it will be your job for the rest of your life. With a higher education comes the ability to get paid more. So, with a college education comes profitable work, satisfaction with our work, and success. You can't put a price on success.
