“....And in that moment, I swear we were infinite.” (Chbosky) The thoughts of a teenager are strange things, and even stranger are the thoughts of fifteen-year-old Charlie, the best friend of a boy who committed suicide. Charlie has been through a lot in his life, and over the course of the book he goes through even more. He grew up relatively normally until the day his Aunt Helen died, the day his life changed. He distanced himself and constantly admitted himself to the hospital. At the beginning of the book, Charlie is about to start his freshman year of high school. Charlie is writing letters to someone he doesn't know, and these are what make up the entire book. In the first few chapters you learn that he doesn't like being in high school, even though he makes two new friends, Sam and Patrick. "Do you always think this much, Charlie?" (Chbosky) Charlie has a strangely unique outlook on many aspects of life, some of which are sex and music. He doesn't seem to understand many things in the normal way, but his thoughts on these things are very thorough. From time to time he looks around...
