What critical human resource management functions must be performed regardless of the size of the organization? (Up to 10 points) Human Resources Management is the title given to define the formal systems set up for the management of people within a company. The responsibilities of a human resources manager are multiple. These responsibilities typically fall into three main areas: employee compensation, staffing, and job definition and/or design. The purpose of human resource management is to maximize a company's ability by improving its employees. This is unlikely to change in the future, although the pace of business continues to change. Edward L. Gubman stated in the Journal of Business Strategy: "HR's fundamental mission will always be to acquire, develop, and retain talent; align the workforce with the business; and provide excellent contributions to the business. These three challenges will never change." Human resource management is not just for large companies, small businesses also need a strong human resources department. Although they don't have the same amount of volume as larger companies, the decision made by the HR department of small businesses can have a more important effect on the health of the company. Irving Burstiner was quoted in The Small Business Handbook: “Hiring the right people and training them well can often mean the difference between eliminating minimal livelihoods and steady business growth. Personnel problems do not discriminate between small and large businesses. you find in all companies, regardless of size." The main purpose of human resource management is the development of both individuals and the organization. This means that HR is not only responsible for finding and maturing workers' talents, but also for implementing programs that will improve communication between other workers. I am fortunate to have a family member who is an HR Manager at UPS and when asked what HR functions need to be performed regardless of the size of the organization? They responded with workforce and job analytics, workforce performance, worker professional development, and workforce retention2. Why is it important for organizations to have a code of ethics and a sustainability program? Many companies have a code of ethics or better known as a policy statement. A code is a form of internal legislation within the company that binds its employees, with specific sanctions in case of violation of the code.
