“When services are provided,” Cuellar says, “they often focus on one dimension of the child's mental health, such as symptoms, without sufficient attention to long-term outcomes such as educational success and employment”. While education is not the only important issue for children with or at risk of developing mental health problems, Cuellar highlights the importance of education over the long term of child development. The journey to combating mental health in children is a bumpy road. Parents and guardians, teachers and professionals must work together to prevent, intervene and treat mental health problems for all children: those who are not considered at risk, those who are at risk and those who are. With a stigma associated with mental health and mental health issues, some parents may find it difficult to want to evaluate their children's mental health, but early prevention steps can prove beneficial for children, as the mind is more plastic during first development. While we treat the behavioral problems of those who have or are at risk of mental health problems, we must also focus on their academic improvement. Caring for mental health is a lifelong journey that must begin at an early age and will require ongoing effort from parents and caregivers.,
