Crime is a social phenomenon. Crime has no race, gender or economic status. Anyone can commit a crime and we are all capable of committing crimes, but it really just depends on a lot of factors that you encounter in life that make you more susceptible to crime. The crime can be as insignificant as J-walking or as large as murder. The life of the criminal alone is not the only one that is compromised when a crime is committed. The shockwave of pain that a crime can cause is exponential, and nothing brings together such a large group of people to feel that pain like a mass shooting like Columbine in 1999 or the Aurora movie theater in 2012. They are There are many aspects that come into play. the study of crime and crime itself is constantly evolving. With crime comes a justice system, a way to deal with people who break these laws that society puts in place to protect the public. The United States justice system is one of the best in the world. A justice system that defends the innocent before they are proven guilty is why the world regards our justice system as one of the best. Our justice system, just like any other justice system, has flaws. These defects are perceived by people in different ways. People will be angry at governing and yes, our system is not perfect, but as said above, we have one of the best systems in the world. This study of crime using different theories helped us explain the why of crime. We don't always know why people create crime, but these theories can show us why popular crimes such as violent, property, and victimless crimes can occur. Domestic terrorism in the United States has been prevalent throughout this country's existence. For example, so many people download illegal music that it would be nearly impossible for people to continue sharing music unless the punishment was severe enough.
