Fear was my motivation. I still remember when, after a long summer break, I refused to do my homework. My mother couldn't handle it and locked me out of the house in the dark until I promised to do it and never throw a tantrum while doing homework. Yes, at that point I thought it was a little cruel of my mother to shut out a 6 year old in the dark. But as I grew up I understood why he did what he did. She wanted to go to college and have a career, but couldn't because her single mother couldn't support her financially. Instead of going to university he had to get married at the age of 19. My father also couldn't go to university for financial reasons. They both worked very hard to financially support me and my brother and put us through college. They have given me the resources and I intend to make the best of them. I really hope I can make my parents proud
