Before a person can address the concept of global warming, they must first analyze the true definition of what it is. Climate Change Periodic modification of the Earth's climate is driven by changes in the atmosphere and interactions between the atmosphere and various other geological, chemical, biological, and geographic factors within the Earth system. (British) Since all 196 countries in the world must share oxygen and carbon dioxide, we should all take responsibility for caring for the earth. On November 6, 2012, President Obama said that we want our children to live in a world without the destructive power of a warming planet. The biggest challenge we face is not just saving heating. Greenhouse gases have a large impact on our atmosphere. These gases include water vapor, methane, ozone, nitrous oxide, and carbon dioxide. Each greenhouse gas molecule has three or more atoms held together loosely and which eventually release heat energy that is absorbed by another greenhouse molecule. Many people talk about greenhouse gases as if they are a bad idea, but they are not a bad thing. Without these gases the surface of the Earth would be at zero degrees. However, too many greenhouse gases can cause higher temperatures in the atmosphere, warming of the oceans beyond normal levels, and unpredictable weather. The same goes for fossil fuels which produce a variety of emissions that pollute the air and water of our planet. These pollutants threaten the environment and its resources. When we reduce greenhouse gases, we also reduce the amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere. By not burning fossil fuels such as natural gas, coal, oil and gasoline we reduce global warming. Another thing we can do to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is to use less heat and air conditioning. Some experts say that simply reducing heat by 2 degrees in the winter and more in the summer can save about 2,000 pounds of carbon dioxide each year. Additionally, by reducing, reusing and recycling half of household waste we can save 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide per year. There are things that a person can hardly do without even thinking about it and which can contribute to the cause of climate change, such as changing light bulbs, driving less, driving smart, buying energy efficient products, using less hot water, planting trees and encourage others to do so.
