In chapter one, I like the way the book explains how to evaluate by asking questions, but without overwhelming students with questions. The teacher should observe the students and see how they behave and talk to other students, which is what the teacher does in the first chapter. The four box assessment is a good idea that the teacher uses in the first chapter. I like how the four-box assessment is divided into categories like listening, speaking, and writing, so the teacher can write down what needs improvement and what the student excels at. The four-box assessment will help students with homework and grading assignments. Assessing students is necessary for the teacher because it provides the teacher with knowledge of where the students are academically. Also, with assessment, I think discussing academic goals with ELLs and rewarding them when they reach their goals could be effective, which also shows English language learners that you care and want them to do
