'I've felt strange all day.' Shawn thought as he lay on the hospital bed wide awake. After hearing a sound, Shawn's head shot up. 'It looks like someone is coming, wait, it looks like there's more than one person. I count two. Eh, how strange, it's 3.30 in the morning and the nurse passed by here on her rounds half an hour ago, strange.' Shawn mused in surprise. The footsteps were getting closer to his room so Shawn closed his eyes and pretended to be asleep. "He's not sleeping," said a gravely male voice that made Shawn's heart pound. “Look at his heart rate monitor, Lilith; it shows that he is awake. The man said. Shawn heard light feminine footsteps approaching his bed and a hand grabbed his chin with one hand and a slightly damp rag was placed over his nose and mouth with the other. Shawn's eyes snapped open and he saw a young woman with slightly crazy blue eyes and a big, equally crazy smile holding the wet rag to her mouth. Shawn began to struggle but soon his resistance weakened and he slipped into darkness. Shawn was startled awake by the sound of two men talking to each other. None of the voices were the same as the one he had heard before. “He's waking up,” said one of the men whose voice was hoarse. Then the man began to laugh. It wasn't a pleasant, happy laugh. This laughter promised pain, lots and lots of pain. Shawn trembled in fear before being grabbed painfully by the neck. The other man was the one who grabbed him because Shawn heard that horrible laugh again right in front of him. “Yes, Jeff, he's awake,” the man who had grabbed him sneered before shoving Shawn to the ground. "The boss didn't do it." I'm not saying he had to be in good condition when he arrives, Don” The man with the evil laugh, Jeff said. Shawn felt himself... in the center of the card... moving closer to Shawn and Christy. One was a white wolf with a black patch of fur on his left ear. The other was a black wolf with a white patch of fur on his right ear. (It smells like a wolf but it looks like one of those things. We can't harm any of us.) The white wolf said to his companion. The black wolf seemed to be frowning at the other wolf. (He's not one of us Teranis. He looks human, so he must be human.) The black wolf responded mischievously. (Don't deny its scent, brother. It smells like us. The only human I smell is the child. The laws state that we cannot harm another wolf, Ferangal. Besides, we are sworn to do no harm to a child, even if he is human, when we became guardians of the forest.) Teranis said to his. brother patiently. Ferangal huffed in annoyance but nodded in agreement. (Good brother, we will keep watch because they are still unconscious.) The black wolf growled.
