Electric vehicles do not produce carbon when in operation. Another advantage of electric vehicles is that they can be powered by electricity produced from multiple energy sources. Electricity can come from nuclear, hydroelectric, solar, wind, biofuels and even fossil fuels. Most of these sources are almost entirely produced and supplied here in the United States from local natural resources. Electric vehicles would greatly help the US economy and also reduce our dependence on imported oil. The United States also already has a very efficient electricity distribution network. Electrifying our transportation will be pollution-free and very versatile. Currently, one of the biggest disadvantages of electric vehicles is that they are not as fast as conventional cars. This is something that automakers like Tesla are working on and improving. A possible future energy source for vehicles and many other things are fuel cells. Through chemical reactions, fuel cells produce electricity like a battery does. Unlike batteries that use chemicals inside them, fuel cells have an external fuel supply. They are much more efficient than normal batteries. Experimental cars that run on liquid hydrogen fuel are being developed in Germany. This is something that will most likely become much bigger in the
