Without the positive influences of ancient Greece, modern society could be a civilization of sick, nonconformist, and overweight people. Luckily, the ancient Greeks took the time to make contributions, which prevented this from happening. The Greeks used foresight, science, and philosophies to investigate platforms in medicine, democracy, and sports that allowed them to produce significant contributions to modern society that are still used today. First, Greece was instrumental in defining the ethics of medicine. Greece has made a commitment to doctors, making them responsible for always doing their best to support their patients. It was Hippocrates; perhaps one of the first physicians, also known as the "father of modern medicine" who created the Hippocratic Oath ("ancient Greek medicine"). His oath, which he made his student population take, was to treat all patients to the best of his ability and he refuses to administer deadly medicines to his patients.
