Topic > Native American Policy: The Board of Indian Commissioners
The two elements defined in the document are “(1) Tribal organization. (2) The Indian reservation. First, the U.S. government created Indian reservations, creating poor living conditions that would hinder the ability to progress at the pace the United States had formulated for them. The soil, for example, in Oklahoma, where most of the reservations were located at that time, was terrible for farming. Therefore, the Indians would starve and be in poor health. Once again, the United States has contradicted itself on Indian policy, choosing to ignore the most crucial parts of the history that led to the country's poor condition.
