Topic > Split of Christianity from Judaism - 1425

In today's world it is difficult to find anything that is not connected in some way to religion. Whether it is faith in multiple gods, in men, or in one true God, everything has been tainted by it. There are so many beliefs today that one begins to wonder how they got here. Every religion has its origin story, but that of Christianity is of particular interest. This religion, with all its splits, itself began as a split. Even though Christianity and Judaism seem so different now, in the beginning they were one. In Old Testament times there were no Christians, only Jews. While Christianity is strictly a superset of Judaism, taking nothing only by fulfilling prophecies, modern Christianity goes further. The Jewish faith is based on the Torah. The Torah outlines the laws and traditions that every Jew should follow. Christians would recognize the Torah as Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy, all part of the Christian's Old Testament. In addition to these books the Holy Bible contains the New Testament. These stories fulfill many prophecies found in the Old Testament. However, many Christians miss the meaning of the words of the New Testament. The Bible was written by Jews, for Jews. Because of this, there are many stories and phrases that are misunderstood or simply ignored. Christians have forgotten their origins. They no longer understand all the traditions and holidays that Judaism entails. Unfortunately, this means that many important lessons aren't even noticed. While Judaism does not include the New Testament in its Torah, it does not ignore it entirely. Many Orthodox Jews see this as wonderful advice, even if it is not sacred.
