The purpose of the education system is to teach. People are expected to learn as much as they can and are encouraged to be proficient in these subjects to be successful in life. However, schools limit sources of knowledge to individuals who can enable this depth of understanding. Books are banned from the library because they contain curses, nudity, or any other aspect of the real world deemed "inappropriate." Teachers cannot utter extended sentences about creation or evolution, nor can school textbooks, for fear that a person might take offense in defense of their beliefs. Rather than what you are allowed to learn in school, it is the knowledge gained through individual efforts that empowers them and frees them from society's expectations. Pursuing self-education ensures a broader scope of learning. There will be no censorship, nor lack of material at your disposal. You are free to obtain a myriad of information within the literature that would not be permitted in a school library.
