Mallard by Kate Chopin who receives the news that her husband has just died. Mrs. Mallard starts out as a grieving widow. As she begins to think about it, she is happy that her husband is dead. Mrs. Mallard finally feels “free” to do what she wants now. When she discovers that her husband is alive, she dies of a heart attack. This story shows that Mrs. Mallard was not happy in her relationship with Mr. Mallard. She seems relieved that he is gone and can now start a new life.
