Education in our country is in crisis and to address the problem we must address it at the center. We need to target school boards; they control the funds, the education and more or less the community. Since school boards are counterproductive these days, there seems to be only one way to fix the problem. Get rid of school boards across the nation and give each school their own individual power, just like private schools, or start creating a nationwide school board. With the entire nation on the same page, perhaps together we can help save education and secure the future of our country. Only until something is done at school boards will there be a positive and productive change towards education. The Truth About School Boards The role of school boards “is to establish a vision for schools in the community that reflects the consensus of the board, community, and district staff. " While this is their primary purpose, they must also balance the district budget, create an annual district calendar, negotiate the contract, construction, and approve the district curriculum. (Stover 1) While it may seem harsh to argue with school boards, even though they do a lot, it's their job. They were charged with leading and improving the community, leading our children. If they are not mentally ready to be a leader, then why run for school board member? , how to improve education for them and how to make sure they get the most out of every day they come to school. School boards today are corrupt and only care about personal financial gain. The problem persists across the nation.
