Topic > The longest and busiest day in American history:...

September 11, 2001 marks the longest and most tragic day in American history. It all started like a normal morning, kids woke up for school, people went to work and others just went for a morning run, as if nothing had happened. Then, suddenly, at 8:46 am, Flight 11 hits the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. There were 767 people and 20,000 gallons of jet fuel on board. It hit on the 80th floor out of 110 floors. Imagine hearing the loud sound of an explosion while you're at work? At first people thought it was just a poorly guided plane that hit the top of the tower. Everyone was rushing out of their offices and people were trying to evacuate world trade as quickly as possible. Some were told they didn't have to leave the second building because it was just a dodgy plane and that was fine. Then at 9:03 a.m. a second plane hits the south tower. At this point the news had already been recorded, so everyone saw what was happening. People were running away and the streets were crowded with people trying to leave. People all over the world were freaked out because no one was really sure what had happened. After the second plane hit, they began researching the flight and who was on board. While they were looking for him they started to recognize some names, they realized that it was a terrorist attack. Engaged with Alkyda because they recognized the names of the people who were on the flights. During this time Bush was President of the United States, he had been in Sarasota with a group of kids listening to them read and learn at a local school. Bush had no idea that the second plane had been hit because he had been in this classroom unable to answer phone calls. He had no idea what was happening. ...... half of the document ......ind 9/11 was Khalid Mohammed Mr. Mohammed was also responsible for 30 other tragic terrorist attacks and 9/11 was not the first. Mr. Mohammed was the top aide to Osama bin Laden, a prime suspect in the September 11 attacks. Osama was still at the top of America's most wanted list. Osama was also behind the 1998 boom that destroyed two embassies in Africa. The United States searched for Osama for many years, in fact it took 10 years to find and kill Osama and this was a great achievement for the United States. Today September 11th is known as a very sad day, some people may go around with flags and have outdoor barbecues and celebrations to remember and thank the men and women who lost their lives in the Empire State Building for trying to save others and those who worked in the building and didn't make it, this is and always will be an important day. United States A story that still haunts all our lives.
