IntroductionPerhaps, American society is the most divergent, the most accommodating, and the most culturally diverse of all societies in the world. Interestingly, most Americans reflect similar behavioral elements in many respects that are distinct from our American society. There are a number of conscious and unconscious core values that should guide every American character. Much of American culture has to some extent incorporated Western civilization: a civilization that welcomes diverse cultures, blends multiple ideas, and values freedom of choice. However, numerous challenges have emerged in the direction of promoting our overall well-being; thus leading to questions about the direction our society should take for our common well-being. Here I will discuss approaches that can be designed to address issues related to the distribution of wealth and the relationship between politics and community beliefs so as to have an even happier society. Inequality, cohesion and civic virtue One of the challenges our society faces today is the growing gap between rich and poor. Although our politics have eluded the reality of an expanding society, several philosophers have expressed their views on the challenge of wealth distribution. Our politics have become so distant from the challenge of widening the social divide that President Obama's proposal to overhaul tax laws in the direction of burdening the rich with more taxes has received heavy criticism from the Republican political quarter. Beyond philosophical ideologies on the topic of wealth distribution, there is a more important challenge that requires the attention of our political leaders: civic virtue. Get an image of… the center of the paper… placed in our schools and other institutions. Instead of focusing on teaching various religious and moral beliefs, students should be allowed to openly present their opinions on various religious issues. Such direction must be implemented in an environment that respects people's right to choose the various religious and moral beliefs available in our society. Conclusion As I have already discussed, I agree with Sandel's views on the two issues (the distribution of wealth and an open engagement between religion and politics) that I discussed above. The distribution of wealth is particularly useful for safeguarding our democracy, promoting cohesion and improving the well-being of the poor. On the other hand, an engagement between politics and religion will be useful to promote unity, tolerance and knowledge within our society.
