1. Name the six basic nutrients needed by the body. What is each of their anointings? In what types of foods might you find them? How does each of them benefit the body? The human body requires 6 basic nutrients. These 6 are carbohydrates, proteins, fats, water, vitamins and minerals. Carbohydrates are divided into two main groups. Simple sugars and starches. Simple sugars contain fructose, glucose and lactose. All three sugars are found in most fruits. Starches are found in bread, rice, some fruits, some vegetables and potatoes. Carbohydrates mainly have the task of providing energy to the body. However, in some cases where the body lacks enough fiber, carbohydrates can be broken down to provide a fiber substitute. Proteins are the building blocks of your body. Proteins are broken down into amino acids. These amino acids are used to build and repair muscles, hair, blood cells and some hormones. Protein is also a good source of calories, which the body recognizes and uses to replace carbohydrates. Without proteins the body could not exist. Proteins are found in the protein food group, which includes meat, eggs, nuts, beans, etc. Fats are used to aid in the production and absorption of certain vitamins and hormones. In addition to this, fats “guard” vital organs. Fats also act as calorie stores, although this is not their primary use. Fats are found in butter, cheese, oil and most dairy products. Additionally, the body converts excess calories into fat, hence why they are like a calorie depot. It is very important to have water in the body. Water is responsible for transporting nutrients throughout the body, removing waste products, controlling body temperature, etc. Without water our body would be content......middle of paper......overbearing to want to control your best life. Anorexia treatment is handled by a doctor, a psychologist and a counselor. These people will make sure you get back to a healthy weight and try to change the way you think about weight gain (or whatever the cause is). Bulimia nervosa (normally called bulimia) is a "disorder" in which a person feels the need to eat more food than necessary. Some symptoms of bulimia are sores on the knuckles or hands (caused when a person sticks fingers down the throat to induce vomiting), discolored teeth (due to stomach acid), and swollen cheeks (again caused by repeated vomiting). may die of anorexia or bulimia. Both of these conditions can cause your body not to get the nutrients it needs, heart problems, damage to the esophagus, etc. Both of these eating disorders are very serious and cause deaths every year.
