The compensation model and the life course model would be the ones that most closely resemble our family. Over the years our family has changed. My father works a lot and doesn't stay home as much as my mother would like. My mother is involved in several local organizations that volunteer throughout our community and works at a local gift shop. Before I could drive, my mother sometimes had to have my grandparents pick me up from school and other activities. They sure didn't mind, they loved spending so much time with us. I feel like because of this it strengthened our relationship and made me realize how lucky I was to have them in my life. If it weren't for them I wouldn't have been able to do many of the different activities I did as a child with my parents working and volunteering. My grandparents always help me decide what I should do with my life. If my mom and I can't figure out how to do something, we go ask my grandma. Just the other day I was home for an engagement party and I had two different dresses that my mom and I couldn't decide between. I took both dresses to my grandparents' house, tried them both on, and let them decide which would be best for the occasion. It's the little things like these that show me how much influence they have on my life and
