Topic > What are the causes of racism in sports - 1195

With reference to racial segregation against African Americans, there were specific schools and hospitals for each group. Blacks and whites were not to mix as blacks were seen as a worthless race that needed to end (Kwate 45). No sexual relationship between whites and blacks was permitted, so the two races could not marry. Black people were assumed to be inferior both genetically and intellectually. Today, racial segregation continues to manifest itself in various forms, of which sport is one of the main sectors. In sports, racism has worked to the disadvantage of blacks and those from less developed countries (Jarvie, 107). In fact, looking at the most prestigious football clubs, we notice a predominance of whites despite blacks possessing talents and abilities equal to those of blacks.
