The World War, or the Great War as it came to be known, was the first massive international conflict Earth had seen. What began as a European conflict would eventually involve nations from around the world. New technologies and industries have shown crueler and quicker ways of decimating armies than ever before. Countries that were already on the verge of exploding literally did so. It was the entry of the United States after three years of neutrality that would help end the war with an Allied victory. Ending the war would not come without great cost to human life and the environment. The scars left by the Great War would remain in the following years and would inevitably lead to the Second World War. The origins of the First World War began in Europe. European nations had fought seemingly endless wars against each other. In the early 1900s, nationalism was fervent across the European continent. It was a time when empires and emperors still ruled through lineage.
