How close is Man of Steel to Superman's legacy, and are its changes for better or worse? Many fundamentalist fanatics have mixed feelings about Man of Steel and criticize director Zack Snyder due to how far the film's concept goes back to Superman's origins. Some fanatics question whether Snyder fully understands Superman's origins due to the film's far-fetched theory as opposed to the comics. The disappointment left mixed feelings among the public. Some say the twists were a nice addition to the films; while others think the story should remain the same. The film takes a complete tangent from Superman's origins. Zack Snyder made numerous inaccuracies due to Superman not gaining his full potential powers until three-quarters of the way through the film, having a lack of concern for the citizens, and most importantly, executing General Zod. Is this movie about Superman or about a mysterious bearded man who protects people once every decade of his life? One problem the film has is found in the first hour of the film - where the film, up to that point, hadn't really established Superman as a hero yet. As opposed to the original Superman where Superman would be fully developed in the first scene of the film. In addition to his powers being fully developed, Superman would have already established his archenemy as well. This course of action took too long, and while I understand that the director wanted a solid background of Clark Kent and Kal-El, this action could have been more direct. In Man of Steel Clark Kent was supposed to transform into Superman and show the world who he really is and... middle of paper... m. However, in Man of Steel he did the unthinkable, he killed a life form, that life form was General Zod. The fanatics were outraged at the sight of this scene, and they have a right to be. The decision was a bad one and almost ruined the entire movie. All things considered, the decision made by the director to change Man of Steel from the original comics was a poor choice, as Superman has not gained full potential for a long time, contains no concern for citizens, and kills a life form. Director Zack Snyder edited this film to try to appeal to different generations, but he didn't take into account the original fanatics. The original fanatics were the ones who created this series into what it is today. Sure, Man of Steel was overall an enjoyable film to watch, however the fact that it doesn't follow the comics infuriates fans of the original Superman.
