These nonprofit agencies provide victims of domestic violence with safety, support, and awareness (Domestic Violence Shelters, 2016). Any woman experiencing abuse can call any shelter for assistance and accommodations will be provided to both the woman and the children. If space is not immediately available at the shelter, staff will work with you to find a host family to reside with until space is available at the shelter. Domestic violence centers also provide counseling for abused or battered women and often offer activities for children so that both mother and child can find some kind of normality in their lives.
