Attending a jazz concert for the first time was a great experience; was performed at the Feddersen Recital Hall in Mt. Sac on October 19, 2019. The musicians who took part were Bob Sheppard who alternated on alto and soprano saxophone, Jeff Ellwood who played tenor saxophone, Dean Koba who played drums and Katie Thiroux played double bass. The double bass was the instrument that caught my attention the most, the melody and rhythm were perfect, it made me want to follow the rhythm throughout the concert. The syncopation and swing, bent notes, mannerisms and improvisation helped maintain a great rhythm throughout the entire concert. Say no to plagiarism. Get an original essay Throughout the concert the bassist, drummer and saxophonists did a great job, making the beat unforgettable. One of the songs performed was "Optimal Propensity". This song starts with some low tones in the harmony with the introduction of the saxophone and drums. The song after the beginning slowly transformed into a more consonant harmony, which then remained throughout the rest of the song. The tempo of this song was happy in some parts of the song and louder and more relaxing in other parts as the tempo changed and the saxophone notes helped change the melody. Also, the second song that was performed was "Have You" Have You Met Mrs. Jones?' which contained a romantic melody. As the bass and saxophone alternated in the rhythm, the passion of the song motivated everyone to abandon themselves to its rhythm. The steady melody seemed to get significantly faster like a heartbeat in the song's climax. The sounds got louder and louder until all the instruments met at the top with a bang and then changed dynamics again. Another song that was played was 'Did It Have To Be You?'. For me it was a romantic song from the very first note. The song started with a very soft to very loud crescendo and then stayed that way until the end when the pattern was reversed. The melody was very smooth; made me feel the sweet and delicate rhythm that immediately captured all my attention. Furthermore, after attending this amazing concert full of wonderful music, I was happy and had an unforgettable day. It was an experience of a lifetime. I listened to a genre of music that I had never heard before, I feel like I was missing a part of real music. If it weren't for this assignment I wouldn't know how beautiful it is to attend a jazz concert. The melody and rhythm are memorable. Now I have been searching online for jazz concerts because I am ready to continue experiencing the magnificence of jazz music that began in the 20th century. The audience seemed to be college students who attended for the same reasons as me. However, the other audience members who were part of it were older age groups and were just hoping for a good performance and a good time. The audience always gave a warm ovation of applause at the end of each song, which means that the audience appreciated the performance. Please note: this is just an example.
