These tools were used to hunt for food and to collect materials useful for their survival. As a result, the period is also known as the hunter-gatherer period, which is the topic of this essay. The health of a hunter and gatherer was influenced by three different environments: physical, biological, and social. Although their health was affected by different environments, it was the healthiest and safest era in human life. Say no to plagiarism. This environment serves as a source of food, shelter, nonhuman companionship, and other factors (Last, Stallones, White, 2013). A biological environment affected the health of Paleolithic era people because they had to forage for their own food and find their own shelter. There were no grocery stores or pre-built houses, so hunters and gatherers had to do this work themselves. During the Paleolithic, malnutrition and famine were not seen as common as they were later after this period. One danger for hunters who went out to get food was that they had a high chance of being attacked or killed by the animals. Gatherers have also had difficulty, not knowing whether what they are actually collecting is poisonous or not. Hunters and gatherers had to create the tools they needed from rudimentary chipped stone tools (Britannica Encyclopedia, 2018). While there were many dangers, this era also had its advantages. By foraging for their own food, they knew exactly what they were eating. All the food they ate was fresh, even the food provided by the foragers was fresh. The fat content in the Paleolithic diet was similar to the fat content in our diet today. Although they are very similar, the ratios in which fats are consumed are different, in the Paleolithic the ratio of Omega-6 to Omega-3 was 3:1 and today the ratio is 12:1. This means that less fat was consumed in the Paleolithic (Paleolithic). Animal parts were also used to create the structure of some of their homes, the bones of larger animals were used to frame them and their skin was also used to cover the bones to protect them from the elements. Physical Environment A physical environment is the natural environment in which we live. This environment includes topography, water availability, temperature, and geological structures (Last et al., 2013). A physical environment affected the health of the Paleolithic era as the terrain was more rugged, so it would be more difficult for them to move. They would try to build their community near water, so they would have a constant supply of water, and then, when the availability of water began to decline, they would have to move. An advantage of water in this era is that it did not contain any contaminants that we have in our water systems now in modern society. Another advantage of this era is that none of the natural environments were contaminated with pollutants, a big problem today in modern society. Some people of the Paleolithic era lived in colder environments, while others lived in warmer climates. The environments
