When it comes to choosing a career path, I've always had trouble finding a job that I actually wanted to do. I'm the type to stress out about everything and put things off until the last minute, so when I entered college I had a hard time choosing a major and juggling school work at first. Getting a business major will help me achieve my goal of becoming a business manager in the music industry. Being a manager for this profession means being responsible for marketing, consulting and managing financial income for musicians. I will have to manage contract negotiations and help the artist manage the income they earn from making music, concerts and festivals. I am qualified for this job because I am very diligent and hardworking when it comes to things I am passionate about. What makes my background unique is that usually people within this career have a history or family members that provide them with connections to enter this profession, but I have none of that. My educational goals that will help me earn a degree are to have at least a 3.0 GPA and pass all classes each semester with a 75% or better. Some skills needed to achieve this career are being proficient in mathematics and having quick thinking skills. I am able to finance my education through FASFA and by saving money and putting it in a savings account that helps pay for books and supplies needed for classes and pay off loans. In the future, when it comes to my finances in order to live a certain lifestyle in Houston, the amount of money thatI will have to earn to keep it is at least $55,000 or more. Additionally, there is an expected increase of 16,040 new jobs filled by 2018 and an annual increase of 17.0 over the next few years in Houston, which means there are plenty of available jobs open for this job. The lifestyle I plan to live is pretty simple, I don't plan on living extravagantly until later in my life. Furthermore, this lifestyle not only matches my expected annual salary for this occupation, but also exceeds the amount. The reason is because the job I intend to pursue is in the business world as an agent/manager. I make $81,254 a year in Houston, which helps maintain a comfortable life and allows me to have extra money. This money can be saved and used for other things I need or just want to spend. For example, vacation trips and expensive accessories that I always wanted to buy but didn't really need. The reason is that if you compare Denver's annual salary of 64,625 and Los Angeles' annual salary of 84,792 to Houston's of 56,400, the lower cost of living will be able to provide me with the lifestyle; I want to reach out. Housing costs in Denver saw a 56% increase, in Los Angeles 160%, and groceries saw a 10% increase in Denver and Los Angeles 30%. That means it would be much more expensive to live in those two cities and I wouldn't have any extra money compared to living in Houston. While this path is a little more dependent on living in Los Angeles and would be much more efficient in terms of my job since it involves the music industry, I think it would be better to just stay in Texas.
