During my university studies I was a brilliant student. I was involved in many curricular and co-curricular activities. I was a good football, cricket and tag of war player. I was an active donor to the university blood donation society. I have donated my blood many times and I am proud of it and am ready to donate it again where necessary. I did my final year thesis project on “Characteristics of Chariot Drivers of Lahore, Pakistan” with the four-member team in which I was selected as the team leader. Lahore is the capital of Punjab province, Pakistan's largest province by population. I feel fortunate to have completed my final year thesis project under the supervision of Eng. Prof. Dr. Tanveer Iqbal Qayyum, known as “The Founder of Transport Engineering in Pakistan”. Under his supervision I learned many things about transportation engineering. The fundamental aim of our project was to determine the characteristics of drivers and, based on these characteristics, how accidents can be overcome. Because a driver is not only responsible for the safety of his own life and that of passengers, but is also responsible for the safety of other road users. In the final thesis project, our group visited all the streets of Lahore and we interviewed the float divers and asked several questions. For example, their monthly income, education, permission to travel, police behavior towards them, etc. We also visited several government departments. We conducted a survey for almost six months and collected all the necessary data. The hard work finally paid off and I was given an A+ grade in my final presentation. That's when I decided that I would select transportation engineering for higher studies because transportation engineering has a bright future in Pakistan. Say no to plagiarism. I have many friends and we had formed a society that worked against drug addiction. We collected funds and spent them for the welfare of the society with complete honesty. I left that company because I went to do my higher studies in Lahore. I get close to people with positive behaviors. During my high school studies I met several people from different regions, cultures and traditions. In the future it will help me interact with people from other regions or countries. Why Transportation Engineering I would like to apply for master's degree in transportation engineering because nowadays transportation engineering plays a key role in human life and economy of different countries in the world. My motto is to work for the betterment of society and my country. To become a good and experienced transportation engineer and designer, it is necessary for me to gain deeper theoretical and practical knowledge about transportation engineering. During my studies, I will try to bring out the best in everything. I hope to achieve my aim and objectives during my higher studies and become a good transportation engineer and designer. Higher studies will give me the opportunity to hone my skills. I will do my best to pass on my knowledge to other individuals in my company. So this way it will help me become a good human beingand a useful citizen for my society and my country. It has become a non-separable part of human life. As we all know, human life cannot survive without natural resources. But when we look at the geography of the earth, it is not the same. In some regions there are mountains. In some regions the terrain is flat. So to transport natural resources we need routes. Without roads we may be able to transport natural resources, but the benefit of those resources will be less. The absence of roads can cause a lack of facilities. For example, if a village is located in a mountainous region and the population of the village is more, then it is the responsibility of the government to provide it with all facilities, for example, health facilities, educational facilities, etc. But a government cannot provide all those facilities unless they have built good roads. The availability of roads ensures smooth transportation of all materials required for construction in less time and without any danger or damage. By using these roads local people can transport local goods to the global market and can earn money at a lower price. Good roads and transportation systems also reduce transportation times. This way the country's economy will grow rapidly. Let's take an example if a region “A'' produces a particular good and that particular good is desired by the people of another region “B”. So the cost of the particular good totally depends on the distance between them, the mode of transportation and the condition of the road. If the road condition is excellent then it will be available at low cost in less time to point “B” and if the road condition is asphalt then it will be available at higher cost and it will take more time to transport the good item to point “ B”. Good roads and transportation systems also result in an increase in tourism which is one of the important factors in the economy of any country or region. I would like to take the example of my region, Gilgit Baltistan. There are ten districts in Gilgit Baltistan. Among these the most beautiful neighborhood is Astore. But tourists refer to visit Hunza district. The reason is that the road to Hunza, known as “Karakorum Highway” in short KKH, is in excellent condition. The road was built by a Chinese company and has maintained high quality. The driving is very smooth while the conditions of the other roads are much worse and dangerous. Therefore, few tourists visit other parts of the region. Nowadays, eighty percent of the people of Hunza district are related to tourism. Good roads and transportation systems also improve safety. One of the reasons why I chose transportation engineering is the "China-Pakistan Economic Corridor" briefly known to me as CPEC. CPEC is a project between China and Pakistan. According to this project, new roads and energy projects will be built. The main purpose of CPEC is to build new roads and form a transportation system to transport goods from China and Pakistan to other parts of the world. Therefore, it will create employment opportunities for the people of Pakistan, especially the young generation like me. Once I got admission into one of the top engineering colleges in Bangladesh, my intention was to gain in-depth knowledge rather than just getting marks. During my university studies over the past four years, the excellent course structure combined with the high academic standards have further stimulated my interest in the field of civil engineering. Among the programs offered by my university, I found transportation engineering best suited to me. I have always been fascinated by roads and traffic. But what made me most interested in this field are theongoing unrest in the transport sector in Bangladesh. Being a densely populated country with an insufficient number of roads and public transport, the transportation system in Bangladesh is an unsystematic sector. There are untrained drivers and unsafe roads with poor road conditions. The transport management system is not effective. Accidental deaths due to road accidents are very common. These accidents and accidental deaths are common both on highways and in large cities and even in small towns. To continue economic progress, the transportation system must be effective. TransportThe system must be faster, more efficient and, above all, safe for everyone. All these factors are behind my decision to take transportation engineering as my future career path. Graduate studies With this thought in mind, I supported my master's thesis in transportation engineering. I chose my topic on road safety. The work was to find out the main reasons for driver distraction in Dhaka city. Since I had no financial or technological support from the university, I had to do the work myself. It has been done on a small scale but if it can be done on a larger scale it will definitely impact the overall transportation safety scenario in Bangladesh. With my problem solving skills I made my own DIY equipment to capture data from the field and later analyze it using software. After data collection and analysis, some of the most common and dominant reasons behind driver distraction were identified. What I have seen from fieldwork and subsequently analyzed data is a clear indication of how distracted motorists are while driving and how much this poses a risk to road users. At the undergraduate level, I have tried my best to get exposure to research work to take a leading role in this direction and to gain an in-depth insight into the field of transportation engineering. At this point in my academic career, I realize that my undergraduate education has provided me with what is only a taste of this field and there is much more waiting to be explored and created in this field. I want to explore much more in this field. I want to know more about the transportation management system, road safety and traffic operation. If I get a chance, I want to learn about the intelligent transportation system. In the future I want to work in my country's transportation engineering field and maintain my commitment to solving ongoing transportation problems. I want to know how we can accommodate more vehicles on the streets of my country, which are becoming increasingly dense with traffic. The traffic management system should be competent enough to handle this pressure. I want to learn how to make our streets safer and adapt innovative ideas. I believe that a quality higher education at a developed world university will help me achieve this goal. My Personality If someone asks me how I am as a person, I would say that I am intelligent, active, confident and intelligent. One of my most distinctive characteristics is the diversity of experiences I have. I have a passion for travel. I have traveled to most places in my beautiful country. Also, my hometown and my university are in two different cities of Bangladesh. For the last few years I have been living away from my family, all by myself. This has made me stronger, made me survive in different situations that I previously thought would not be possible for me. I saw people from different backgrounds and different cultures. All of these.
