Topic > Summary and review of the film Catch Me If You Can

Before watching the film “Catch Me If You Can” I looked for some information about the film. The 2002 film is directed and produced by Steven Spielberg, who also directed the classics: "ET, BFG, Jaws, Jurassic Park" and many others. In this film Steven Spielberg collaborates for the fourth time with the famous actor Tom Hanks who plays FBI agent Carl Hanratty. The main character, Frank Abagnale Jr, is played by Leonardo DiCaprio. This is his first collaboration with Steven Spielberg. The story of this biographical crime film is based on the true story of Frank Abagnale Jr, who also wrote a book about his life in 1980. Frank, the real one, said after the film's release that about 80% of the story was accurate . At first, Frank Abagnale Jr. thought Leonardo was unsuitable to play his role because he didn't think DiCaprio was "nice" enough to play him. But after the movie came out, he took it all back. Some fun facts about this movie are that the movie was shot in 147 locations in just 52 days. And then all the streets in the scenes are wet even though the sun is always shining. Say no to plagiarism. Get a tailor-made essay on "Why Violent Video Games Shouldn't Be Banned"? Get an Original Essay As I said before, this movie is a biopic. The movie “Catch Me If You Can” is set in the 1950s and 1960s. It's about a teenager, Frank Abagnale Jr., who runs away from home when his parents want a divorce. At that moment Frank barely has any money so he decides to pretend to be a co-pilot so he can use the checks easily. Using this method he managed to steal over $2.8 million. After a while, an FBI bank fraud agent, Carl Hanratty, begins tracking Frank. So Frank decides to find other ways to get more money and starts pretending to be a doctor, even though he doesn't have a medical diploma. During his work as a doctor he fell in love with one of the nurses, Brenda Strong. To convince Brenda's father to marry her, he pretends to be a lawyer too. It worked and they got married. But the FBI agent, Carl, was still trying to find Frank. After a lot of night work he discovered Frank's marriage and barged in on the wedding. After all, Frank might run away again and told his boyfriend that he would be waiting for him at the airport in 3 days. Three days later, at the airport, he discovered that she had informed the FBI. Once again he found a way out and flew to France where he continued to issue fake checks. But Carl Hanratty had no intention of letting Frank go and continued searching around the world for him. Will he ever be able to catch it? This movie is definitely in my Top 15 best movies. I like this movie so much because, first of all, it has the handsome Leonardo DiCaprio. Secondly, since it is based on a true story, before this movie I could never believe that someone could do a $2.5 million fraud. Frank Abagnale Junior certainly has an impressive life story, especially if you know how the movie ends. Thirdly, it is an original story, the film has many twists and turns. The only thing I personally liked less is that there is not a single "good" female character in the film, nor is the woman a prostitute, shy and naive, nor an adulteress. But other than that, it's a very entertaining and entertaining film. I definitely recommend it!
