Water is an essential resource for sustaining life. It is a colorless, odorless and transparent liquid that forms the seas, lakes, rivers and rain on Earth. Water covers three-quarters of the Earth's surface but in reality about 97% of the water is salt water and only 2.5% is fresh water. Most fresh water is in the form of glaciers and only 1% of the water can be used by humans (USGS, 2014). The impacts of water on our health, people's lifestyles and the prosperity of the community at large are many. First, one of the health impacts of water is that water helps us maintain the balance of body fluids. About 60% of our body is made up of water, and these body fluids are necessary for digestion, circulation, and regulation of body temperature (Web MD, 2014). Water also helps the progress of detoxification in our body by releasing waste through sweat and urination (Mind Body Green, 2012).
