People believe that Southern states used this flag as an act to promote slavery during the Civil War. In reality it was done for the recognition of the States coming together in a Union as in a Confederation. Even when the Ku Klux Klan taints the historical value of the Confederate flag, it is still one of the most important flags in history. The Confederate flag has the right to be flown in Texas, but to prevent popular rebellion against the Confederate flag it should not be flown in Texas.
