Topic > The similarities and differences between Federalist newspapers...

Federalist and Anti-Federalist newspapers have played an important role in the history of the United States. They faced many problems in politics. The documents were made after the Revolutionary War. People began to worry that the government would not last under the Articles of Confederation. Without yet having a backup plan, some delegates met and created the Constitution. The constitution had to be ratified before it became the government of the entire country. The Federalist and Anti-Federalist documents discuss whether or not the Constitution should be approved. Some things the Anti-Federalists and Federalists advocated were a strong national government, a standing army, and whether or not the Constitution should be ratified and why. The federalist documents were in favor of ratifying the constitution. They were written by James Madison, John Jay, and Alexander Hamilton. They consisted of 85 articles and essays. Most of them were published between 1787 and 1788; the author's names were kept secret until 1818. Hamilton decided to sign the “Publius” papers to keep his name anonymous. Hamilton was the first to publish an essay and soon chose Madison and Jay to assist him. To their surprise, Federalist newspapers influenced many New York citizens to vote to ratify the Constitution. In contrast, the Anti-Federalist newspapers did not entirely agree with the new Constitution. They were written by many different authors. However, some of the most popular Anti-Federalists were Patrick Henry, John Hancock, Sam Adams, etc. They were also anti-Federalist newspapers. Much like the Federalist documents, the Anti-Federalists adopted the name “Brutus.” In the federalist document n. 6, one of the points discussed was that it is dangerous if states are left... in the middle of the paper. .....I believe that the electoral college must be made up of men capable of analyzing the specific qualities of the president of the time. Furthermore, in the anti-federalist document n. 68, it is argued that the president should be elected by a certain number of electors, just like the electoral college. As everyone can see, the federalist documents and the anti-federalist documents have done some good and acceptable changes in politics. Although there was much controversy and discussion, the federalists won and the Constitution was ratified. The date of ratification was September 17, 1787. One of the main reasons the Federalists won was their strong government. On the other hand, the Anti-Federalists lacked a well-organized government. Whatever the outcome, everyone can easily say that the Federalists and Anti-Federalists put a lot of time and effort into their documents and stood up for what they believed in..
